About the Role

Lead an engineering team that partners with the Linux engineers of a major silicon company. You will work across the full Linux stack—from kernel to GUI—to optimize Ubuntu for the latest silicon. This is a fast-paced, problem-solving role requiring resourcefulness and the ability to deliver solutions across PC and IoT technologies.

As a Partner Engineering Manager, you will manage relationships with key technology partners, ensuring timely delivery on project milestones. You will lead, challenge, and develop strong engineers while influencing culture and strategy.

What You’ll Do

  • Team Leadership: Lead a distributed team of engineers to design and implement Ubuntu integration for the latest IoT and server-class hardware.
  • Partner Engagement: Collaborate with commercial partners to deliver a high-performance, optimized Ubuntu experience on their platforms.
  • Mentorship: Develop your team through coaching, mentoring, and constructive feedback.
  • Project Oversight: Manage commercial engagements and ensure timely delivery of milestones.
  • Quality Assurance: Maintain strict quality and reliability standards.
  • Cross-functional Collaboration: Align with internal Canonical teams on product architecture and roadmaps.
  • Travel: Work from home with global travel up to twice a year for up to two weeks.

Who You Are

  • Experience with Linux distributions, Debian packaging, and high-performance server-class hardware.
  • Proven track record of working directly with customers to resolve technical issues and interpret business challenges.
  • Demonstrated experience managing or leading a team of software engineers.
  • Understanding of agile software development methodologies.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively across multiple internal teams to build trust and deliver results.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English.
  • Bachelor’s degree (or equivalent) in a technology field.
