About the Role

Canonical is seeking an IoT Solutions Architecture Manager to lead a regionally-focused team of Field Engineers. You will oversee Presales and Professional Services activities, guiding customers through complex solution architecture, design, and delivery for Ubuntu-based IoT initiatives.

This is a leadership role requiring a blend of deep technical expertise in embedded Linux and the ability to mentor a distributed team. You will act as a trusted advisor to customers, helping them build secure, mission-critical connected devices.

Key Responsibilities

  • Team Leadership: Lead, develop, and mentor a team of Field Engineers (ranging from graduate to senior levels).
  • Customer Success: Act as a trusted advisor, solving customer problems and promoting Canonical’s technology stack.
  • Operational Excellence: Implement disciplined engineering processes, identify team health indicators, and manage project goals.
  • Strategic Representation: Represent your team and product to stakeholders, partners, and customers.
  • Collaboration: Work as an active member of the leadership team to align on strategy and execution.

What We Are Looking For

  • Education: Exceptional academic track record with a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a related technical field.
  • Technical Expertise: Extensive experience with embedded Linux (Yocto or similar) and Debian/Ubuntu.
  • Programming: Fluency in at least one of: Golang, Python, C, C++, or Rust.
  • Experience: Proven ability to manage a small team and handle customer-facing engagements.
  • Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, flexibility, and a result-oriented mindset.
  • Communication: Professional written and spoken English with the ability to communicate the business benefits of technology.
