
About the Role
Canonical is seeking an MLOps Field Engineer to help global enterprises adopt AI/ML using open-source technologies like Ubuntu, Kubeflow, MLFlow, Feast, and DVC. This is a customer-facing role focused on architecture, presentations, and technical solutions rather than software development.
What You Will Do
- Architect Solutions: Design private and public cloud infrastructure (AWS, Azure, GCP) for AI/ML workloads.
- Technical Consulting: Advise customers on Ubuntu and open-source applications, collecting business requirements to influence product roadmaps.
- Hands-on Engineering: Work across the Linux stack, including kernel, networking, and storage; develop Kubernetes operators and infrastructure-as-code using Python.
- Collaboration: Partner with enterprise sales leads to deliver demonstrations and presentations of Ubuntu Pro and AI/ML capabilities.
- Project Delivery: Deploy, test, and hand over solutions to support or managed services teams.
What We Are Looking For
- Technical Foundation: Undergraduate degree in a technical subject or equivalent experience.
- Experience: Proven track record in data engineering, MLOps, or big data solutions deployment.
- Programming: Intermediate Python skills (or experience with R/Rust).
- Infrastructure Knowledge: Practical knowledge of Linux (Debian/Ubuntu preferred), virtualization, containers, and Kubernetes.
- Soft Skills: Excellent interpersonal and presentation skills; business-minded with a drive for commercial success.
- Flexibility: Ability to travel internationally up to 30% of the time for customer meetings and company events.
