Canonical is seeking a Senior Software Engineer to join our Web Engineering team. You will drive technical best practices, lead architectural conversations, and own the development of large-scale projects. Key Responsibilities
- Technical Leadership: Drive initiatives, write specifications, and reduce system complexity.
- Engineering Excellence: Design, implement, and document well-tested software while leading code and architectural reviews.
- Operations: Deploy and operate services developed by the team, ensuring high performance and accessibility.
- Mentorship: Systematically develop and mentor team members to foster a culture of excellence.
- Advocacy: Represent the team as a subject matter expert and contribute to technical documentation.
What We Are Looking For
- Experience: Proven track record in web engineering with a strong understanding of Linux (Debian/Ubuntu preferred).
- Education: Undergraduate degree in Computer Science/STEM or a compelling narrative of an alternative path.
- Soft Skills: Passionate, self-motivated, and excellent interpersonal communication skills.
- Technical Depth: Ability to research new technologies and integrate modern approaches sustainably.
- Commitment: Result-oriented with the ability to travel twice a year for company events.
Nice-to-Have Skills
- Experience with container technologies (LXD, Docker, Kubernetes).
- Background in REST API design, development, and governance.
- Passion for performance engineering and security.
