About the Role

Canonical is seeking a Software Engineer to join the team building Landscape, the leading management tool for deploying, monitoring, and managing fleets of Ubuntu systems. You will contribute to a distributed team, participating in all facets of the development process to enable large-scale observability, telemetry, security, and compliance.

What You’ll Do

  • Collaborate proactively with a distributed team.
  • Write high-quality code to create new features, fix bugs, and modernize the Landscape codebase.
  • Demonstrate a strong commitment to code quality and automated testing.
  • Participate in the engineering process through code and architectural reviews.
  • Take personal ownership of problems, designing and delivering robust solutions.
  • Work remotely with global travel 2 to 4 weeks per year for internal and external events.
  • Assist with release management during each development cycle.
  • Collaborate with DevOps for Landscape SaaS, Canonical’s hosted management platform.

Who You Are

  • Passionate about open source, Linux, Python, and web services at scale.
  • Curious, flexible, articulate, and accountable.
  • Possess a Bachelor’s or equivalent in Computer Science, STEM, or a similar field.
  • Proficient in developing public-facing APIs and web applications, preferably using Python.
  • Experienced with Python web frameworks (Flask, Django).
  • Experienced with databases and ORMs (PostgreSQL preferred).
  • Comfortable using Ubuntu as a development and deployment platform.
