About the Role
Canonical is seeking an exceptional Software Engineer to join our Store team. You will develop and operate the backend services powering the Snap Store and Charmhub.io marketplaces. This is a unique opportunity to work on high-scale systems that support the global Ubuntu ecosystem.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate: Work remotely with a globally distributed team, with 2–4 weeks of annual travel for internal and external events.
- Develop: Write clean web service APIs to support CLI and web frontend clients using Python (and optionally Golang).
- Engineer: Design and implement new features from specification to production, ensuring scalability and reliability.
- Review: Participate in code reviews and technical design discussions to maintain high engineering standards.
Who You Are
- Experienced: You have professional proficiency in developing public-facing APIs and web applications using Python.
- Technical: You have a strong backend and infrastructure focus, with experience in relational and non-relational database design and query tuning.
- Platform Savvy: You are comfortable using Ubuntu as your primary development and deployment platform.
- Academic Background: You have demonstrated strong academic performance in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field.
- Soft Skills: You are curious, flexible, articulate, and self-motivated with a passion for open-source technology.
