
About the Role
Canonical is hiring a Software Engineer for our OpenStack Engineering team. You will build Charmed OpenStack and Ceph, a suite of Python-based charms for deploying and managing cloud infrastructure. This role is ideal for engineers passionate about open source, Linux, and automating infrastructure as code.
What You’ll Do
- Collaborate proactively with a globally distributed team.
- Write and review high-quality code to create new features and debug issues.
- Ensure the success of OpenStack and Ceph across multiple architectures.
- Participate in international travel 2 to 4 weeks per year for internal and external events.
Who You Are
- You possess a Bachelor’s or equivalent degree in Computer Science, STEM, or a related field.
- You have professional experience with Python.
- You have interest and experience in at least two of the following: Ubuntu Linux, Kubernetes, OpenStack, Ceph, AI/ML, QEMU/KVM, LXC/LXD, Go, C, PostgreSQL, MongoDB, or Debian packaging.
- You have experience with non-x86 architectures (s390, arm64, power, etc.).
- You have experience with OpenStack, OVN, Openvswitch, and related cloud technologies.
- You are curious, flexible, articulate, and accountable with strong soft skills.
