About the Role

Canonical is seeking an exceptional Technical and Reporting Accountant to join our growing Finance team. As we prepare for a planned IPO, you will play a critical role in ensuring our financial practices meet public market scrutiny. This position offers the opportunity to drive process improvements, provide technical accounting advice, and contribute to a highly productive, global team.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Accounting: Research and interpret accounting standards, provide advice on complex transactions, and draft accounting papers and policy documentation.
  • Reporting & Compliance: Assist in month-end and year-end reporting, prepare statutory accounts across multiple subsidiaries, and ensure compliance with IFRS and local GAAP.
  • Audit Support: Assist with external audit processes and support the internal audit team.
  • Process Improvement: Drive efficiency in financial procedures and monitor regulatory changes.
  • Collaboration: Establish strong relationships with cross-functional teams and share knowledge to ensure team coverage.

What We Are Looking For

  • Qualifications: Qualified accountant (ACCA, ACA, ACMA, CPA, etc.) with a Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or equivalent.
  • Expertise: Strong knowledge of IFRS and local GAAP; experience in financial reporting and statutory accounts preparation.
  • Background: Experience at a large public accounting firm or a public multinational corporate accounting department is preferred.
  • Systems: Proficiency with NetSuite or similar enterprise-grade systems.
  • Communication: Business-level written and spoken English.
