Ubuntu Enablement Engineer - Canonical

About the Role

Canonical is seeking an Ubuntu Enablement Engineer to represent us with leading OEMs, ODMs, and silicon partners. You will ensure the best user experience of Ubuntu on partner hardware, directly impacting millions of users. This role is office-based in Taipei, Taiwan.

Key Responsibilities

• Partner Collaboration: Work closely with partners on platform bring-up and maintain strong working relationships.
• Technical Support: Debug and prioritize issues, escalating to engineering teams as necessary.
• Communication: Facilitate technical dialogue between Ubuntu, firmware, and hardware engineering teams.
• Root Cause Analysis: Collect and organize data to reproduce issues and explain results.
• Training & Support: Plan and deliver technical training to partners and provide factory support during production.
• Response: Provide fast response times and clear timelines for technical resolutions.

What We Are Looking For

• Strong skills in Linux kernel, boot, and system-level architecture.
• Proven ability in Linux debugging and resolution.
• Excellent English communication skills (written and verbal).
• Exceptional academic track record (high school and university).
• Undergraduate degree in a technical field or equivalent experience.
• Ability to be productive in a globally distributed team.
• Willingness to travel internationally twice a year for company events.

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with system firmware (UEFI, ACPI, DSDT, boot loaders, device firmware).
• Experience debugging power management (PCI ASPM, SATA ALPM, low power profiles).
• Knowledge of board design, bring-up, and validation.
• Familiarity with x86, ARM, or RISC-V architectures.
