
About the Role
Cloudflare is seeking a Senior Customer Engineer (Solutions Engineer) to join our Digital Native segment. You will work with high-growth, cloud-native startups and developers, acting as a technical bridge between their engineering teams and the Cloudflare Developer Platform.
This is a pre-sales role for a technologist who thrives on technical discovery, architecture whiteboarding, and evangelism. You will partner with sales teams to qualify opportunities, lead proof-of-concept builds, and help CTOs and founding engineers integrate Cloudflare’s AI and edge computing tools into their product roadmaps.
Responsibilities
- Technical Discovery: Lead discovery calls to understand customer architecture and identify where Cloudflare fits into their stack.
- Strategic Engagement: Embed with customer teams, including participating in Slack channels and working sessions to drive technical wins.
- Evangelism: Present tailored demos and technical content for both hands-on developers and executive leadership.
- Platform Expertise: Deeply understand and advocate for the Cloudflare Developer Platform, including Workers, Workers AI, R2, D1, Vectorize, and Pages.
- Collaboration: Partner with sales to qualify deals and manage the technical sales cycle from discovery to implementation.
- Thought Leadership: Create reference architectures, blog posts, and represent Cloudflare at industry events.
Desirable Skills & Experience
- Proven experience in a pre-sales or customer-facing technical role (e.g., Solutions Engineer, Technical Consultant).
- Strong "builder" mindset with the ability to speak the language of developers and CTOs.
- Familiarity with serverless/edge platforms, AI/GenAI application patterns (RAG, vector databases), and HTTP/Networking technologies.
- Ability to read/write code (JavaScript/TypeScript, Python, or Golang) for demos and troubleshooting.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to translate complex technical concepts for diverse audiences.
- Ability to travel up to 25-30% for customer meetings and industry events.
- Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent practical experience.
Compensation
- Los Angeles: Estimated annual OTE (Base + Commission) of $221,000 - $267,000.
- Note: This role requires local presence in Los Angeles; relocation is not offered.
