What You Will Do
The Customer Engineer (CE) is a trusted technical advisor and the primary architect of the customer journey. You will bridge the gap between technical strategy and business value, guiding enterprise clients from pre-sales validation through deployment and lifecycle expansion.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Validation: Lead deep-dive discovery, map complex infrastructure (DNS, CDN, Zero Trust, Network Security, Workers), and define success criteria for Proof of Concepts (PoCs).
- Customer Adoption: Design migration blueprints and serve as the primary technical contact for onboarding, ensuring rapid time-to-value.
- Commercial Accountability: Carry a variable quota tied to new business and account growth; lead technical QBRs to demonstrate ROI to C-level stakeholders.
- Trusted Advisory: Maintain long-term relationships with key stakeholders, providing thought partnership on architecture and security posture.
- AI Orchestration: Utilize AI agents and LLMs to automate routine tasks like RFP responses and documentation, focusing your time on high-value architectural design.
- Enablement: Create technical resources, SOPs, and best practices to raise the technical baseline across the organization.
Qualifications
- Experience: Proven track record in a customer-facing technical role (Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, or Technical Account Management).
- Architectural Mindset: Ability to white-board and articulate complex enterprise network and security architectures.
- Technical Breadth: Proficiency in at least four of the following: Internet fundamentals (OSI, BGP, DNS, HTTP), Security (WAF, Zero Trust, SASE), Performance (Latency, Caching), AI Proficiency, Coding/Scripting (Python, JS, Go), or Developer Platforms (APIs, SDKs, Terraform).
- Commercial Acumen: Experience operating in a quota-carrying or revenue-aligned environment.
- Education: Undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
Travel
This role may require travel up to 20–50% for customer meetings and team collaboration.
