We power millions of websites and Internet properties, ranging from individual bloggers to Fortune 500 companies, by protecting and accelerating their applications without requiring hardware or software changes. We are looking for builders who value curiosity over bureaucracy and see AI as a partner in solving complex Internet challenges.
The Role
The Customer Engineer (CE) is the core driver of our technical go-to-market strategy. You will act as a trusted technical advisor and primary architect of the customer journey, bridging the gap between technical strategy and business value. This is a quota-carrying role where you will leverage AI-augmented workflows to focus on high-value architectural design and measurable business outcomes.
Key Responsibilities
- Technical Validation: Lead deep-dive discovery, map complex infrastructure (DNS, CDN, Zero Trust, Network Security, Workers) to Cloudflare solutions, and manage Proof of Concepts (PoCs).
- Customer Adoption: Design migration blueprints and serve as the primary technical contact for onboarding, implementation, and long-term health.
- Commercial Accountability: Carry a variable quota tied to new business acquisition and account growth; lead technical QBRs for C-level stakeholders.
- Trusted Advisory: Maintain deep relationships throughout the customer lifecycle, identifying risks and providing architectural thought partnership.
- AI Orchestration: Utilize AI agents and LLMs to automate routine tasks like RFP responses and documentation, reclaiming time for strategic advisory.
- Education & Enablement: Build technical resources, SOPs, and best practices to raise the technical baseline across the organization.
Qualifications
- Experience: Proven track record in a customer-facing technical role (Solutions Engineering, Sales Engineering, TAM, etc.).
- Architectural Mindset: Ability to whiteboard and articulate complex enterprise network and security architectures.
- Technical Breadth: Depth in at least four areas: Internet fundamentals (OSI, BGP, DNS, HTTP), Security (WAF, Zero Trust, SASE), Performance (Latency, Caching), AI Proficiency, Coding/Scripting (Python, JS, Go), or Developer Platform Fluency.
- Commercial Acumen: Experience operating in a quota-carrying environment with an understanding of SaaS metrics.
- Education: Undergraduate or graduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
