Senior Customer Engineer, Public Sector Federal - Cloudflare

About the Role

As a Senior Customer Engineer for the Public Sector Federal team, you will serve as the technical lynchpin throughout the sales cycle. You will act as a technical advocate, educating prospects and customers on Cloudflare’s global network and security solutions while supporting their long-term technology strategy.

What You’ll Do

• Pre-Sales & Strategy: Lead technical discovery, demonstrations, and proofs-of-concept (PoCs) to drive new business and expand existing accounts.
• Technical Advocacy: Advise customers on best practices, product implementation, and strategic technical guidance.
• Collaboration: Work closely with Sales, Product, Engineering, and Customer Support teams to ensure customer success.
• Travel: This role requires 35-45% travel to attend meetings, conferences, and industry events, specifically focusing on the Dept. of Defense & DISA segments.

Requirements

• Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of OSI Model (layers 1-7), TCP/UDP, DNS, HTTP(S), and SSL/TLS.
• Security Frameworks: Proficiency with SASE, SWG, CASB, DLP, and SD-WAN.
• Infrastructure: Experience with on-premise networking and legacy system integration.
• Experience: Minimum 4 years in a customer-facing sales or consulting role supporting the US Federal Government.
• Soft Skills: Exceptional ability to translate complex technical jargon for diverse audiences, including C-level executives.

Desired Qualifications

• Experience serving the US Department of Defense or DISA market segment.
• Proficiency with command-line interfaces, RESTful APIs, and browser-based web inspectors.
• Undergraduate degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or related field (not strictly required).
• Certifications: Azure, AWS, or GCP Architect.
