Senior Customer Engineer, SLED West - Cloudflare

About the Role

At Cloudflare, we are on a mission to help build a better Internet. As a Senior Customer Engineer (CE) for the SLED (State, Local, and Education) sector, you will serve as a trusted technical advisor, owning the technical relationship from discovery through long-term adoption and expansion. This is a quota-carrying role focused on driving measurable business outcomes for public sector clients.

Key Responsibilities

• Technical Validation: Lead technical discovery, build bespoke architectures, and deliver product demonstrations and Proof of Concepts (PoCs) tailored to public sector procurement and compliance.
• Customer Adoption: Serve as the primary technical contact for onboarding and implementation, monitoring customer health to ensure rapid time-to-value.
• Commercial Accountability: Carry a variable quota tied to new business acquisition and account growth; lead technical Quarterly Business Reviews (QBRs) for C-level stakeholders.
• AI Orchestration: Utilize AI-augmented workflows to automate routine tasks like RFP responses and sandbox provisioning, allowing more time for strategic advisory.

Qualifications

• Public Sector Expertise: Proven experience selling into SLED, Local Government, or Municipal agencies, including knowledge of government IT constraints and compliance.
• Technical Acumen: Deep expertise in web security, networking (DNS, DDoS, routing), and enterprise cloud architecture.
• Commercial Mindset: Strong track record in quota-carrying roles with an understanding of SaaS metrics and business value translation.
• Communication: Exceptional presentation skills with the ability to bridge technical details for government C-suite and elected officials.

Preferred Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with Cloudflare’s developer platform (Workers AI, AI Gateway, Vectorize).
• Proficiency in Python or JavaScript for custom integration scripts and API connectors.
• Experience with LLM orchestration or RAG architectures.
