Senior Software Engineer - Network Platforms

About the Role

The Network Platforms team builds and extends the software infrastructure responsible for traffic delivery across Cloudflare's global network. You will work on critical systems impacting millions of customers, ranging from the Linux kernel to network hardware dataplanes and physical interconnects.

What You’ll Do

• Design, document, and implement software systems for critical network paths.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including automated testing and production monitoring.
• Operate under a "Run What You Build" model, including participation in on-call rotations.
• Collaborate with operations and product teams to ensure infrastructure meets business needs.

Requirements

• Systems-level programming experience in Go, Python, Rust, C, or C++.
• Solid grasp of BGP and internet routing protocols.
• Experience implementing, deploying, and debugging mission-critical distributed systems.
• Strong collaboration and communication skills.
• Willingness to integrate AI-assisted development tools into your workflow.

Bonus Points

• Familiarity with vendor switching SDKs.
• Experience with SR-MPLS, sFlow, BGP-LS, or PCE protocols.
• Experience writing packet-processing software (e.g., eBPF at TC or XDP, DPDK).
• Experience using AI-assisted development tools in a professional setting.
• Prior experience participating in an on-call rotation.
