Senior Software Engineer - Quicksilver - Distributed Key Value

About the Role

Quicksilver is Cloudflare’s globally distributed key-value store, replicating data across tens of thousands of servers and over 500 data centers. It handles billions of keys per second under diverse network conditions. As a Senior Software Engineer, you will own the full stack: codebase, unit/integration testing, deployment, operations, monitoring, and on-call support.

What You'll Do

• Develop new features for our distributed key-value store using Go.
• Optimize performance, including CPU and memory usage.
• Enhance monitoring tools and infrastructure.
• Debug and investigate complex, hard-to-reproduce issues.
• Participate in on-call rotations to address technical issues.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Proven experience with storage systems, peer-to-peer systems, or large-scale distributed systems.
• Proficiency in Go and C; comfort with both low-level and high-level programming.
• Strong track record of writing robust, high-quality code and managing technical debt.
• Ability to trace problems through multiple layers of the software stack.
• Pragmatic mindset with a preference for simple, smart designs.
• Excellent communication skills for collaborative design reviews and constructive feedback.
• Autonomy and the ability to thrive in a non-micromanaged environment.
