Software Engineer, Network Performance & Reliability (Argo) - Cloudflare

About the Role

Cloudflare is seeking a Software Engineer to join the Argo team, which is responsible for building reliable network connectivity that exceeds the capabilities of the public Internet. As a key contributor, you will work on the infrastructure powering core products like CDN, Spectrum, Workers, and R2.

Responsibilities

• Design, document, and implement network software infrastructure.
• Collaborate with Engineering, Network Engineering, and SRE teams to translate requirements into platform capabilities.
• Participate in the full software development lifecycle, including coding, automated testing, and production monitoring.
• Utilize AI-powered tools to analyze codebases, introspect production systems, and accelerate problem-solving.
• Operate under a "Run What You Build" model, including participation in an on-call rotation.

Desirable Skills & Experience

• Systems-level programming experience in Go, Rust, C, or C++.
• Solid grasp of networking protocols (Layers 3 and 4 of the OSI Model).
• Knowledge of HTTP, TLS, and CDN networks.
• Experience implementing secure, highly-available distributed systems.
• Strong debugging skills for complex, large-scale systems.
• Willingness to integrate AI-assisted development tools into your workflow.

Bonus Points

• Knowledge of TCP/IP and Internet routing.
• Professional experience with Rust.
• Familiarity with statistical-analysis techniques and control theory.
• Experience with monitoring, alerting, and debugging large-scale distributed systems.
