The Role

As Head of Data at Alpha, you’ll work closely with our CEO to help shape our strategy and build data into everything we do, using the latest AI tooling to reinvent our workflows and increase our speed of shipping daily. You’ll own the data function end-to-end while building and leading a small, high-leverage team in a player/coach capacity.

Who You Are

• Experienced Data Leader: Architect and build robust data pipelines, experimentation infrastructure, metrics dashboards, and monitoring tools. You're comfortable writing SQL, reviewing complex experiments, or diving deep into metrics with the Board. (~10 years of experience at high-growth consumer companies).
• Product & Business Sense: Use data as a tool for making better product and business decisions rather than an end in itself.
• Builder Over Manager: Get satisfaction from diving in and finding the answers alongside your team rather than just growing management scope.
• Structured Thinker: Systematically break down messy problems, create structured plans, and execute with high-bandwidth, fast-paced thinking.
• Ruthless Prioritizer: Focus on high-impact analyses that change answers, push PMs to justify roadmaps, and avoid low-impact work.
• Detail-Oriented: Ensure precise metric definitions, statistically sound experiment readouts, and high logging quality.
• Systems Thinker: Constantly retro processes, build tools for team leverage, and embrace AI data tools.

What You Will Do

• Drive Strategy: Work alongside our CEO to figure out what features drive growth fastest and partner with the CFO to drive revenue.
• Build the Data Machine: Own the modern data stack (BigQuery, dbt, Mode, Eppo, Dust) and ensure precise, reliable systems built on real data from millions of users.
• Connect Product Decisions: Own the forums where the company aligns on experiment readouts, post-launch reviews, and weekly metric movements.
• Push AI Capabilities: Help transform the company into a closed-loop system where data automates important work from feature prioritization to bug detection.
• Build and Ship: Act as a player/coach leading key investigations, readouts, audits, and prototyping new AI tools.
• Build a Team & Culture: Hire, mentor high-slope data scientists, and shape the data culture.
• Create Meaningful Impact: Build social products that bring people together to foster great friendships globally.
