Principal Product Manager II, AI/Vectors - Elastic

About the Role

Elastic is seeking a Principal Product Manager to lead the strategy and roadmap for our embedding/reranking and vector database capabilities. As a senior leader, you will be the go-to expert on search and vector search, guiding the development of technologies like vector indexing and hybrid retrieval. You will work closely with engineering and research teams to ensure our platform meets the needs of global organizations in the rapidly evolving AI landscape.

What You Will Be Doing

• Strategy & Vision: Own the vision, strategy, and multi-quarter roadmap for Elastic's vector database and core search use cases, from low-level indexing to developer-facing APIs.
• Market Research: Uncover emerging trends in search, vector databases, and SOTA models to manage unstructured data.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with engineering and applied research to align product strategy with business goals. Define and defend key metrics including recall, latency, index size, and ingestion throughput.
• Product Positioning: Evaluate the competitive landscape to enhance product positioning and develop user personas.
• Execution: Prioritize features based on customer feedback and technical feasibility. Coordinate with engineering to validate roadmap assumptions and communicate progress to stakeholders and executives.

What You Bring

• 8+ years of product management experience, specifically in technical infrastructure, databases, search, or ML/AI platforms.
• Strong working knowledge of vector search fundamentals (embeddings, ANN indexing, similarity metrics, hybrid retrieval).
• Familiarity with generative models, model fine-tuning, and document processing for large corpora.
• Ability to engage as a credible technical peer with engineers and researchers.
• Proven track record of shipping developer- or infrastructure-facing products at scale.
• Bachelor’s degree in CS, Engineering, or related field (Master’s preferred).
