Principal Product Manager, Telemetry Collection - Observability

About the Role

Elastic is seeking a Principal Product Manager to lead the strategy and execution for our edge telemetry collectors and remote management capabilities. You will own the vision for Fleet Server, Elastic Agent, and the Elastic Distribution of OpenTelemetry (EDOT), alongside classic log shippers like Filebeat and Logstash. You will work end-to-end to ensure our observability solutions are efficient, scalable, and easy to manage for enterprise users.

What You Will Be Doing

• Product Strategy: Define the vision, go-to-market strategy, and roadmap for the Elastic Agent framework and telemetry collectors.
• Data-Driven Decisions: Track KPIs focused on agent deployment success, pipeline efficiency, and OTel adoption.
• Agent Architecture: Oversee the packaging, testing, and distribution of Elastic Agent and EDOT.
• Remote Management: Drive control plane capabilities for Fleet Server and collector infrastructure to ensure seamless management at scale.
• Cloud-Native Strategy: Lead the vision for Kubernetes operators and Helm Charts for agent lifecycle management.
• OpenTelemetry Leadership: Advance OTel as a primary data shipper and guide development across the upstream project.
• Log Infrastructure: Manage Filebeat and lead product initiatives for Logstash performance and supportability.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Collaborate with engineering, UX, and marketing to deliver cohesive collector experiences.
• Public Advocacy: Act as a spokesperson for Elastic’s agent and collector ecosystem at industry events.

What You Bring

• 5+ years of Product Management experience in infrastructure observability, telemetry, or agent frameworks.
• Deep technical familiarity with OpenTelemetry, Elastic Agent, Filebeat, and Logstash.
• Proven track record in defining requirements for remote agent management and distributed edge systems.
• Experience with Kubernetes operators, Helm Charts, and cloud-native orchestration.
• Background in IT Ops, DevOps, SRE, or technical solution architecture.
• Ability to translate complex technical architectures into clear business goals.
• Strong familiarity with the Elastic Stack (Elasticsearch, Kibana, Logstash, Beats).
• Experience working with open-source communities and balancing upstream contributions with enterprise needs.
