Senior Field Engineering Manager - Japan

About the Role

Elastic is seeking a Senior Field Engineering Manager to lead our Field Engineering team in Japan. You will manage our most senior Solutions Architects (pre-sales) and Customer Architects (post-sales), partnering with strategic and global accounts throughout the customer lifecycle. Reporting to the VP of Field Engineering International, you will drive recruiting, hiring, and team enablement to meet our growth targets.

What You Will Be Doing

• Team Leadership: Mentor and grow a high-performance team of Solutions and Customer Architects.
• Enablement: Provide onboarding support, training, and self-directed education programs.
• Customer Success: Ensure a seamless customer journey by aligning pre-sales technical strategy with post-sales adoption.
• Strategic Growth: Drive the value proposition for Elastic Cloud and formulate partner engagement strategies.
• Cross-functional Alignment: Communicate product insights to Engineering and Product teams to prioritize user-centric features.

What You Bring

• Proven track record leading and growing Field Engineering teams (pre-sales and post-sales).
• Ability to articulate the benefits of modern platforms in Search, Security, APM, and Logging.
• Strong grasp of distributed systems, architectures, and data analytics.
• Excellent presentation skills with the ability to "own the room."
• A people-first leadership style focused on continuous growth.
• Language: Fluent English and Japanese.
• Travel: 10-30% within the region.

• Experience in open source.
• Knowledge of Enterprise Search, Big Data, Cloud, IoT, and Security.
