Senior Accountant - Elation Health

Elation Health is a leading cloud-based electronic health records platform for independent primary care physicians and healthcare innovators looking to transition primary care from a fee-based to a value-based model. We are building a primary care operating system that puts physicians first and in the driver’s seat to have a trusted relationship with their patients.

The Accounting Team at Elation supports the financial backbone of the company in accounts receivable, accounts payable, revenue, equity, and financial reporting. We are an agile team within the larger Finance Department with great responsibility as providers of financial metrics and gatekeepers of compliant financial reporting.

About the role

We are looking for a high-impact Senior Accountant to serve as a key architect of core accounting processes across the full set of financial statements. This role goes well beyond traditional transactional accounting and monthly close processes; you will be a key contributor driving systems automation through both implementation of industry-leading tools and creativity in building AI agents to support our growing scale.

You will report to the VP, Corporate Controller and work closely with FP&A, Accounts Receivable, Business Systems, People Operations, Legal, and other business leaders across the organization to ensure that our financial reporting is timely, accurate, and provides necessary clarity to drive strategic decision-making.

Key responsibilities

• Month-End Close: Own core close processes for assigned areas such as cash automation, AP, accruals, and prepaids while ensuring the ledger is audit-ready and compliant.
• Modernize Financial Operations: Identify and lead automation initiatives for close workflows, leveraging ERP functionality (NetSuite) and building AI agents (through Claude / Notion / etc.) to improve quality and reduce time-to-close.
• FP&A Collaboration: Partner cross-functionally to provide data-driven insights, supporting budget vs. actual analyses.
• Compliance & Audit: Coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors to help manage federal and SALT (State and Local Taxes) compliance, ensuring a seamless and efficient audit process.
• Scale Systems & Controls: Maintain and enhance "SOX-lite" internal controls and documentation as we transition toward a more mature, automated reporting environment.

Professional qualifications

• Experience: 3+ years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including experience in a high-growth SaaS environment.
• Education & Certification: Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance.
• Technical Mastery: Strong working knowledge of US GAAP.
• AI Tools: Comfort and experience with AI tools (we would love to hear about any AI agents built inside or outside of your work experience).
• Systems Expertise: Hands-on experience with NetSuite (preferred) and expert-level knowledge of Excel / Google Sheets (required).
• Growth Mindset: A proven track record of building and improving processes from scratch, not just maintaining the status quo.
• Ownership & Accountability: Ability to own problems end-to-end, exercise sound judgment, and operate with a high degree of autonomy in a lean, fast-paced environment.
