People Technology Analyst - Workday

About the Role

At GitLab, People technology never stands still, and this role will be at the center of it. Reporting to the Senior Director, People Technology, you’ll work alongside senior team members and partner closely with People Operations, People Business Partners, and Talent Acquisition to keep GitLab's People systems running smoothly.

No two days will look the same. You will balance recurring operational processes, user inquiries, SOX compliance evidence preparation, reporting, test cases, and quarterly/annual upgrades—all within an all-remote, async-first environment.

What You’ll Do

  • Own recurring processes, monitor system health, resolve issues quickly, and serve as a go-to resource for People Operations, People Business Partners, and Talent Acquisition.
  • Administer system security, assign and maintain security roles, and execute regular system and security audits to ensure data integrity.
  • Configure, test, and deploy day-to-day enhancements as well as quarterly and annual system updates and People programs.
  • Support upgrades and releases by reviewing new features, running regression tests, and preparing stakeholders for upcoming changes.
  • Write and execute test cases; maintain clear documentation of configurations, business processes, and reporting/integration schedules.
  • Prepare and maintain SOX IT General Controls (ITGC) audit evidence and internal controls documentation.
  • Build and maintain reports and dashboards to assist stakeholder decision-making; leverage process data and cycle times to recommend configuration improvements.
  • Enable and train team members on tools, research best practices, and use AI tools daily to automate manual tasks and accelerate analysis.
  • Support senior team members on cross-functional implementations and project workstreams.

What You’ll Bring

  • Hands-on HR technology experience, including exposure to Workday configuration, testing, or system support.
  • Exposure to public company operating procedures, including SOX ITGC controls, audit evidence, and change management.
  • Strong analytical problem-solving skills with experience investigating issues and understanding root causes.
  • An AI-forward mindset, utilizing AI tools in daily workflows to automate tasks and streamline processes.
  • Proven experience validating system changes, documenting findings, and handling confidential information with discretion.
  • Self-starter mindset with strong ownership, accountability, and async communication capabilities.
  • Collaborative, customer-first approach to designing intuitive user experiences.
  • Bonus: Experience with tools like Greenhouse, Serval, Slack, or Google Workspace; advanced report/dashboard building; or experience in an all-remote, async tech company.
