Overview of the Role
You will join the Trust and Safety team within the security division at GitLab. Your role will focus on coordinating and owning cross-functional fraud and abuse prevention workstreams. You will work closely with Trust & Safety engineers to understand fraud and abuse trends and collaborate across Engineering, Product, and other peer teams to implement robust defenses.
A successful candidate translates technical challenges into actionable business requirements and coordinates execution across engineering and product teams.
What You'll Do
- Connect Trust & Safety, Engineering, Product, Legal, Finance, and other teams to build, track, and drive cross-functional fraud and abuse mitigation initiatives to completion.
- Turn abuse and fraud trends into proposed defense measures, secure stakeholder buy-in, and drive projects through cross-functional leadership.
- Maintain an ownership mindset and bias for action to keep GitLab secure.
- Translate abuse patterns into prioritized, cost-quantified requirements and actionable business cases for product teams.
- Leverage AI tools for early identification and triage of fraud and abuse risks across the platform.
- Partner with Finance and Billing teams on fraud prevention controls, including payment fraud, chargebacks, and account verification.
- Define metrics for abuse and fraud exposure, and report program status, financial impact, and outcomes to security and business leadership.
- Identify, triage, and prioritize Trust & Safety abuse campaigns and operational workflows, ensuring high-impact incidents are appropriately escalated.
What You'll Bring
- 5+ years of experience in technical program management, security program management, or trust & safety, fraud, or risk operations.
- Hands-on experience addressing fraud or abuse at a SaaS, platform, marketplace, or payments company.
- Proven track record of driving cross-functional solutions to completion without direct authority over implementing teams.
- Working knowledge of common fraud and abuse vectors, such as account takeover (ATO), free-tier and trial abuse, payment fraud, card testing, bot signups, spam, and phishing.
- Technical fluency with web applications, APIs, identity and authentication mechanisms, and billing/subscription architectures sufficient to evaluate implementation tradeoffs with engineers.
- Clear, concise written communication tailored to an all-remote, asynchronous environment.
- Sound judgment balancing fraud and abuse mitigation against friction for legitimate users.
About the Team
