Staff Product Manager, OpenTelemetry - Grafana Labs

About the Role

As the Staff Product Manager for OpenTelemetry Experience, you will own the end-to-end journey for helping users and agents instrument workloads and send telemetry data to Grafana Cloud. Your mission is to make Grafana Cloud the easiest and most trusted destination for OpenTelemetry workloads by reducing complexity and failure points in the instrumentation process.

What You’ll Be Doing

• Strategy & Vision: Define the vision, strategy, and cross-product roadmap for the journey from uninstrumented workloads to healthy telemetry.
• Experience Design: Create coherent, opinionated experiences for SDK instrumentation, automatic instrumentation (e.g., Beyla, SDK injection), and Collector-based deployment.
• Problem Solving: Identify and eliminate causes of setup failure, misconfiguration, and low-quality telemetry.
• Cross-Functional Leadership: Establish shared experience principles and success criteria across engineering and product teams.
• Data-Driven Decisions: Use customer research and product data to prioritize investments and measure outcomes like onboarding completion and time-to-value.
• Go-To-Market: Partner with Product Marketing to define product narratives, technical content, and adoption programs.
• Ecosystem Engagement: Represent Grafana Labs in relevant OpenTelemetry ecosystem discussions.

What Makes You a Great Fit

• 5+ years of Product Management experience in developer tools, observability, infrastructure, or data platforms.
• Proven track record of leading strategy across multiple teams without direct organizational authority.
• Strong working knowledge of OpenTelemetry (SDKs, OTLP, Collector pipelines, semantic conventions).
• Experience with instrumentation systems, agents, or configuration products.
• Understanding of software deployment across Kubernetes, VMs, and public cloud environments.
• Excellent communication skills, capable of influencing technical and non-technical stakeholders in a remote, global environment.
• Experience using AI tools to accelerate research, prototyping, and content development.
