About Honeycomb
Honeycomb is defining observability and raising expectations of what developer tools can do. We work with well-known companies like HelloFresh, Slack, LaunchDarkly, Vanguard, and more across a range of industries. Having closed Series D funding and scaled past the 200-person mark, Honeycomb was named to Forbes’ America’s Best Startups of 2022 and 2023.
We are a fully distributed company—it is not where you sit, but how you deliver that matters most. We imbue trust, autonomy, and accountability from Day 1.
About the Role
Product Marketing at Honeycomb is a small team with a wide surface area. We decide how Honeycomb is positioned, what we say at launch, what the sales team brings into a deal, and how an engineer who has never heard of us understands the product in the first two minutes.
This role is built for someone early in a product marketing career (2 to 5 years experience) who wants to systematically improve the customer buying journey. As a product and messaging expert, you will partner with go-to-market teams to drive business impact through sales and marketing campaigns. Because our audience is engineers and platform teams, our bar is accuracy first: we would rather be precise and useful than clever.
Key Responsibilities
- Messaging and positioning: Write and maintain messaging for features and product areas—from web copy to technical slide decks. Keep messaging accurate and grounded in actual product capabilities.
- Launches: Execute product launches for small and mid-sized releases and support larger releases. Build launch plans, author assets, coordinate cross-functionally across Product, Marketing, Sales Engineering, and Customer Success, and track performance metrics.
- Content: Produce blog posts, solution briefs, web copy, demo scripts, FAQs, and customer-facing one-pagers.
- Sales enablement: Equip the field with pitch narratives, objection handling guides, battlecards, and release updates. Join customer calls and refine materials based on feedback.
- Competitive and market intelligence: Track the observability market and competitor moves. Maintain current, honest competitive assets.
- Voice of customer: Interview customers and prospects to produce case studies, quotes, and proof points while bringing patterns back to Product and Marketing.
- Measurement: Define success metrics, analyze performance data, and share learnings openly.
Requirements
- 2 to 5 years of experience in product marketing or closely adjacent go-to-market roles (e.g., content marketing, sales engineering, technical writing, developer relations, product management), with B2B SaaS experience.
- Strong writing skills: Ability to translate dense technical concepts into short, accurate, and actionable copy.
- Technical curiosity: Comfort with complex technical products and an appetite to ask engineers questions to deeply understand product functionality.
- Cross-functional leadership: Capability to run multi-team projects without formal authority by establishing timelines, tracking action items, and managing dependencies.
- Bias toward action: Comfort operating in a fast-paced environment with shifting priorities.
- Data-driven mindset: Willingness to evaluate work with data and honest feedback.
- AI Tooling: Demonstrated experience applying AI tools in your workflow.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to observability, developer tools, distributed tracing, OpenTelemetry, platform engineering, or reliability/SLO practices.
- Experience marketing directly to software engineers as the primary audience.
- Hands-on familiarity with AI and LLM tooling, including coding agents and MCP-based workflows.
- Experience with webinars, conference speaking, or community programs.
- Prior experience working in a fully distributed company.
