About Honeycomb
Honeycomb is defining observability and raising expectations of what developer tools can do. We work with well-known companies like HelloFresh, Slack, LaunchDarkly, and Vanguard across a range of industries. We’ve closed Series D funding, scaled past the 200-person mark, and were named to Forbes’ America’s Best Startups of 2022 and 2023.
We are a fully distributed company—we believe it is not where you sit, but how you deliver that matters most. We imbue a lot of trust, autonomy, and accountability from Day 1.
About the Role
Product marketing at Honeycomb is a small team with a wide surface area. We decide how Honeycomb is positioned, what we say at launch, what the sales team brings into a deal, and how an engineer who has never heard of us understands the product in the first two minutes.
This role is built for someone early in a product marketing career (2–5 years) who wants to systematically improve the customer buying journey. As a product and messaging expert, you will partner with go-to-market teams to drive business impact through sales and marketing campaigns. Our primary audience is engineers and platform teams, so the bar is accuracy first: we would rather be precise and useful than clever.
What You’ll Do
- Messaging and Positioning: Write and maintain messaging for features and product areas, from single-sentence web copy to sales engineering presentation slides. Keep content accurate and grounded in actual product capabilities.
- Launches: Run launch execution for small and mid-sized releases and support larger releases. Build plans, write assets, coordinate Product, Marketing, Sales Engineering, and Customer Success, and track performance metrics.
- Content: Produce practical material to help users evaluate and adopt Honeycomb, including blog posts, solution briefs, web copy, demo scripts, FAQs, and customer-facing one-pagers.
- Sales Enablement: Equip field teams with pitch narratives, objection handling, battlecards, and release updates. Join and listen to customer calls to continuously refine materials.
- Competitive & Market Intelligence: Track the observability market and competitor moves. Maintain honest competitive assets that the field trusts.
- Voice of Customer: Talk to customers and prospects, translating feedback into case studies, quotes, and proof points for Product and Marketing.
- Measurement: Define success metrics, pull analytics, and share insights across teams.
What You’ll Bring
- 2 to 5 years of experience in product marketing, or in an adjacent go-to-market role (content marketing, sales engineering, technical writing, developer relations, or product management) with B2B SaaS experience.
- Exceptional writing skills: ability to translate dense technical concepts into short, accurate, and practical copy.
- Strong curiosity about technical products and comfort working with developer-focused tools.
- Proactive project management ability: cross-functional alignment, setting timelines, and keeping teams accountable without formal authority.
- Comfort with ambiguity and a bias toward action in a fast-paced environment.
- Data-driven approach to evaluating project performance.
- Demonstrated experience applying AI tooling in your workflow.
Nice to Have
- Exposure to observability, developer tools, distributed tracing, OpenTelemetry, platform engineering, or reliability/SLO practices.
- Experience marketing directly to software engineers.
- Hands-on familiarity with AI and LLM tooling, including coding agents and MCP-based workflows.
- Experience with webinars, conference speaking, or community programs.
- Experience working in a fully distributed company.
