Senior Legal Counsel - Jane App

About the Role

Jane is looking for an experienced lawyer to join as Senior Counsel, taking a hands-on approach to legal work across the organization. You'll join a small Legal team alongside the General Counsel and Senior Legal & Operations Specialist, collaborating closely with leaders across Product, Partnerships, People, Marketing, and Finance.

You will advise on a wide range of legal issues, including commercial contracts, healthcare and privacy regulation, litigation risk, employment law, and corporate governance. Jane is a remote-first company, giving you the freedom to work from anywhere in Canada.

What Impact You'll Make

• Provide knowledgeable, practical, and helpful legal advice in a fast-paced environment operating globally (including Canada, the U.S., and the U.K.).
• Identify legal solutions as well as risks to help teams execute and ship quickly.
• Review, negotiate, and advise on commercial agreements (MSAs, partnership agreements, vendor terms, NDAs, BAAs), employment law, litigation risk, and strategy.
• Handle law enforcement and regulatory requests (subpoenas, warrants, regulatory inquiries), and advise on IP protection and brand enforcement.
• Build collaborative relationships across Jane, working closely with developers and product managers.
• Help build and scale Legal's AI environment—from automated intake to contract review and document management.
• Mentor others on the team and across the organization to support their development and legal understanding.

What Experience We Need

• 7+ years as a practicing lawyer, including in-house experience advising high-growth technology companies.
• Called to the bar in Canada (Ontario or BC preferred); US bar admission or other global bar admissions are an asset.
• Established expertise in at least 3 of the following areas: commercial contracts, privacy regulation, healthcare regulation, litigation risk, employment law, or corporate governance.
• Proactive problem-solver with strong communication skills and ability to explain complex legal issues clearly.
• Comfortable leveraging AI and modern technology in legal work, including contract review and research.
• Experience building and owning legal processes or knowledge management systems in scaling environments.

Compensation & Benefits

• Annual Salary Range: $158,400 - $247,500 CAD (Accomplished benchmark is $198,000 CAD)
