Operations & Compliance Analyst, Kin Financing - Kin

About Kin

Kin makes life simpler, more affordable, and better for homeowners — especially in places where climate risks, rising costs, and outdated systems make it hardest. Founded in 2016, Kin is a remote-first employer serving customers across 14 states (and counting).

The Opportunity

We are looking for an Operations & Compliance Analyst to take ownership of the compliance and operational work that keeps Kin Financing running. Kin Financing is our home lending program, offering mortgage and home equity products to homeowners who already trust us with their insurance.

This role exists so licensing, reporting, audit, and vendor review processes have a full-time owner. No mortgage, financial services, or legal background is required. Your first months will focus on learning the core work. From there, you will take ownership, run operations cleanly, and identify process improvements as Kin Financing expands into new products, states, and partnerships.

Your Responsibilities

  • Own ongoing reporting obligations to licensing bodies, investors, warehouse lenders, and service providers, managing the renewal calendar for all Kin Financing lending licenses.
  • Run the application process for new state licenses, warehouse lenders, investors, and service providers from initial filing through approval.
  • Maintain Kin Financing's policies and procedures to ensure an accurate record of daily operations.
  • Coordinate audits end-to-end and own post-audit remediation through closure.
  • Drive the review and approval process for vendor contracts in partnership with Kin's Legal, Finance, and Information Security teams.
  • Document inherited processes and refine them to drive operational efficiency.
  • Leverage AI tools to increase workflow speed and coverage, including regulatory research, policy drafting, and automated reporting.

What You'll Bring

  • Bachelor's degree.
  • 1–3 years of professional experience in a role with recurring hard deadlines and external-facing obligations (e.g., reporting, filings, client deliverables, vendor coordination).
  • A track record of high-accuracy work in regulated or compliance-heavy environments.
  • Ability to pick up unfamiliar rules, systems, or procedures quickly and ask clarifying questions early.
  • Experience taking ownership of existing workflows and executing them independently.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills suitable for direct interaction with regulators, auditors, lenders, and vendors.
  • Interest in growing into program or project management roles within Kin Financing.

Success in This Role (First 6–12 Months)

  • Successfully transfer licensing, reporting, audit, and vendor coordination responsibilities from the GM.
  • Ensure 100% on-time execution of reporting deadlines, license renewals, and new applications without errors.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for internal stakeholders (Legal, Finance, InfoSec) and external partners.
  • Implement concrete operational improvements based on hands-on workflow execution.

Benefits & Compensation

  • Compensation & Equity: Competitive salary and company equity via RSUs.
  • Retirement: 401(k) with company match up to 4%.
  • Health Coverage: Multiple medical, dental, and vision options, plus company-funded HSA contributions.
  • Wellbeing: Paid parental leave (up to 14 weeks for birthing parents, 8 weeks for non-birthing parents), mental health resources, and supplemental coverage.
  • Time Off: Flexible PTO policy (typically 15–20 days per year) plus 8 paid company holidays.
  • Growth: Professional development budgets for certifications, training, and conferences.
