Corporate Development Lead - Mercury

Fully remoteFull-timeLead$162K - $225KUTC-8–-4Americas#m&a#financial modeling#fintechEquityRSUsBonus

Mercury is building the financial stack ambitious companies use to operate, from banking to bill pay to forecasting, and everything in between. As we scale, the strategic choices we make about what we build, who we buy, and who we partner with are some of the highest-leverage decisions in the business. To help us make those bets well, we're hiring a Lead on our Corporate Development team.

This role reports to the Head of Corporate Development. You'll work on M&A, fundraising, investor relations, and strategic projects that shape where Mercury goes next, with a seat at the table on those decisions at a profitable, growth-stage fintech and direct exposure to our CEO, CFO, and executive team.

This is a function being built, so you'll have the chance to build the corp dev, IR, and strategy muscle at Mercury as we grow, with reps on real deals. We've closed two acquisitions and the M&A roadmap is active. We run Corp Dev as an AI-native, flat, and high-agency team.

What You'll Do

M&A and Strategic Investments

  • Own M&A pipeline tracking and target sourcing—keep a living view of strategic and financial opportunities across our roadmap.
  • Partner closely with Product and GTM leadership to surface where M&A or strategic partnerships could accelerate the roadmap, translating product strategy and GTM gaps into a live, prioritized M&A thesis.
  • Run Mercury's Market Intel function by maintaining a steady flow of competitive and industry intelligence that informs executive decision-making (fintech peers, public comps, private market signals).
  • Run M&A diligence: financial modeling, target evaluation, synergy analysis, and working with legal, finance, and product teams on deal execution.
  • Drive post-close integration: own the integration plan, run cross-functional workstreams (Finance, Product, Engineering, People, Legal), and track the deal against the financial model.

Investor Relations

  • Drive preparation of Mercury's Board of Directors materials alongside the Head of Corp Dev, partnering with the executive team on content and narrative.
  • Support investor relations: investor updates, KPI reporting, comps tracking, and ad hoc requests from existing investors.
  • Build fundraising materials—pitch decks, data room, financial models, and investor narrative—alongside the Head of Corp Dev and CFO.

You Might Be a Fit If You Have

  • 5–8 years of relevant experience, with at least 2 years in an in-house Corporate Development seat at a tech company. Investment banking, PE, or growth equity experience prior to in-house experience is welcome.
  • Direct reps on live M&A deals, including diligence, modeling, and execution.
  • Proven experience driving post-close integration on the company side, owning cross-functional workstreams and accountability for deal models.
  • Strong analytical capabilities and comfort with data, capable of scaling analysis from quick estimates to full operational models.
  • Daily experience leveraging AI tools to build custom workflows and scale personal output.
  • Clear, high-impact writing skills to translate complex strategic questions into decision-ready memos and board presentations.
  • Ability to collaborate cross-functionally with Product, Engineering, and Sales leadership on roadmap tradeoffs and pipeline gaps.
  • A clear point of view with the ability to constructively debate senior leaders backed by sound analysis.
  • Bonus: Prior experience or demonstrated interest in fintech, banking/payments business models (interchange, NIM, deposit economics), or B2B SaaS pricing.
