About this Team and Role

This role owns the foundation that lets other software drive Firefox: the secure, reliable connection an outside tool or another team uses to act inside the browser, and the building blocks they call to do it. It is a hands-on, technical role in a fast-moving, greenfield space, blending strategy with execution.

You will serve internal teams (Smart Window, New Products' automated tools), outside AI tools and their users, and web developers. Your mandate is to define the strategy for this shared layer and determine what to prioritize.

What You’ll Do

• Own the shared foundation and building blocks for other software, ensuring reliability and security.
• Push the open standard (WebDriver BiDi) forward, and build Firefox-only advantages the standard won’t cover.
• Design safety controls that let individuals approve actions, see when software is acting for them, and take back control.
• Define the strategy for major third-party AI assistants.
• Serve internal teams and outside tools through one shared layer.

What You'll Bring

• A product-minded engineer or a very technical PM who can drive a technical product.
• Developer-space experience, with the range to think about consumers and internal platforms.
• Comfort setting strategy in ambiguity and owning a technical contract other teams depend on.
• Strong instincts on security and trust.
• Nice to have: Web standards, MCP, browser automation.
