Job Overview

We are hiring an Engineering Manager to run a squad that builds Omada's Member-facing systems. A squad owns problems from prototype to production, including the maintenance and the on-call rotation for what it ships. You own that squad: what it works on, in what order, and how the people in it grow.

As an Engineering Manager, you ship code alongside your builders. You own execution and will run squad rituals: iteration shaping, prioritization, backlog grooming, and estimation. You partner closely with a Product Strategist who focuses on member, coach, and stakeholder needs. They own what the squad should build and why; you own whether the squad can deliver it, at what cost, and by when.

What You'll Be Doing

• Own squad delivery: Sprint shaping, prioritization, backlog grooming, and estimation. Make and document decisions while taking full accountability.
• Own cycle time: Continuously improve delivery speed without compromising quality, and communicate effectively when metrics shift.
• Ship code: Write production code every sprint off the critical path using squad agent workflows to maintain technical credibility.
• Partner with Product: Collaborate with the Product Strategist to ensure clear responsibilities and cohesive execution.
• Grow engineers: Provide reports with impactful mentorship, constructive feedback, and career growth support.
• Ensure operational health: Lead on-call rotations, monitor MTTR, and conduct post-incident analysis.
• Escalate effectively: Bring data-backed recommendations and engineering trade-offs to stakeholders early and clearly.
• Hire and mentor: Build the next generation of AI-augmented engineers and model collaborative practices.

What You Need for This Role

• 6+ years in software engineering, with at least 2 years managing engineers or leading delivery accountability.
• Track record of shipping and maintaining mission-critical production software.
• Experience owning prioritization, estimation, and trade-off decisions (including saying "no" or "not now").
• Experience delivering direct developmental feedback and supporting engineers through performance improvement.
• Hands-on experience shipping production code in at least one stack layer (Ruby, Python, React, iOS, or Android) with range across others.
• Comfort with an expert-generalist team model across full-stack and mobile disciplines.
• Practical experience directing AI agents through real-world production changes.
• Understanding of CI/CD, logging, monitoring, and telemetry tools.
• Excellent written communication skills.

Salary Ranges

• Zone 1: $179,400 - $224,250
• Zone 2: $171,600 - $214,500
• Zone 3: $156,000 - $195,000

Exact salary is determined by geographic location, skills, and experience.
