Product Designer
At OpenSpace, we're redefining how the world's most complex projects are built. Our AI-powered Visual Intelligence Platform uses computer vision and spatial AI to give construction teams a real-time view of what's happening on-site, helping them build faster, safer, and with greater confidence.
Forbes has named OpenSpace one of America's Best Startup Employers five years in a row. Come see what all the fuss is about.
Brief Summary of Role
We're looking for a Product Designer to join OpenSpace to work on Track, our progress tracking product. Track turns site captures into a task-by-task, trade-by-trade picture of what has actually been built. It's the kind of ground truth that field decisions, pay applications, and stakeholder communication all depend on.
You'll be the primary designer for Track, owning the full range of product design: framing ambiguous problems, information architecture and navigation, interaction and visual design, and data-dense interfaces, such as executive-level dashboards, visualizations, and tables that make a complex construction schedule legible at a glance. You'll work on a small and senior team alongside PMs, engineers, and directly with customers.
You'll report to the Product Design Manager and join a small, senior design team that covers the whole OpenSpace platform. The team critiques together, shares one design system, and leans on each other's judgment.
This role is remote, with a preference for candidates based in Bosnia and Herzegovina. You'll be joining a product and engineering group that spans the US, Poland, Bosnia and Herzegovina, and Pakistan.
What You'll Be Doing
- Working on Track, our AI progress tracking product, creating interfaces that are data-heavy, complex, simple, and polished to use.
- Delivering end-to-end design: problem definition, information architecture, user flows, interaction design, and production-ready UI.
- Designing data-dense interfaces: progress dashboards, charts, schedule and timeline views, and large tables.
- Simplifying complex workflows: reducing steps, preventing errors, and designing for varied personas, from superintendents to executives.
- Building interactive prototypes to test concepts with customers and align the team before engineering commits resources.
- Utilizing AI tools (including heavy use of Claude) as a core part of your design process for exploration, prototyping, and research synthesis.
- Working fluently in Figma where the design system lives and detailed design happens.
- Collaborating closely with engineers early on feasibility and through implementation to ensure high-fidelity delivery.
- Contributing to the design team and design system through crits, feedback, and establishing new design patterns.
- Conducting research including usability sessions, customer interviews, and site visits on active construction projects.
What We Are Looking For
- 3+ years designing digital products, with end-to-end examples in your portfolio detailing the problem, process, decisions, and shipped outcomes.
- Strong interaction and visual design skills, with demonstrated attention to states, edge cases, and detail quality.
- Strong UX fundamentals: user flows, task analysis, information architecture, usability heuristics, and accessibility.
- Experience designing data-dense interfaces such as dashboards, charts, large tables, or analytics tools.
- Fluency in Figma, including interactive prototyping and design system component maintenance.
- Fluency with AI tools like Claude for day-to-day workflow and exploration.
- Proven track record of close collaboration with engineering teams and understanding technical feasibility.
- Willingness to conduct user research and learn complex construction domain concepts.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills across distributed time zones.
Bonus Qualifications
- Familiarity with construction scheduling, quantity takeoff, or progress billing workflows.
- Experience designing across both web and mobile platforms.
