Role Overview

Location Requirement: Fully remote within UTC+0 to UTC+3.

In this client-facing role, you’ll be the go-to expert for our customers and internal teams, solving complex HR challenges across Western Europe, primarily Portugal, Italy, and Spain.

Whether advising on tricky terminations, navigating country-specific compliance, or unblocking sensitive people issues, your deep HR expertise and pragmatic mindset will help our customers feel supported and confident every step of the way. You will champion a high-performance culture, constantly seeking ways to optimize processes and leverage modern tools, including AI, to scale your impact and efficiency.

Key Responsibilities

Complex Employee Relations (ER)

  • Act as a senior HR expert for complex ER matters across allocated countries with in-depth European focus.
  • Provide pragmatic, solutions-focused guidance on high-risk and sensitive cases, including performance management, misconduct, investigations, and terminations.
  • Navigate nuanced local legal frameworks with confidence, ensuring compliance while supporting business objectives.
  • Partner closely with internal stakeholders and Oyster customers to deliver clear, actionable, commercially-minded advice.

Country HR Information & Knowledge

  • Draft and continuously improve country-specific information on a wide range of HR topics.
  • Leverage AI and automation tools to streamline the generation, updating, and scaling of country-specific HR documentation.
  • Resolve escalated tickets on HR topics beyond the scope of Lifecycle Operations teams.
  • Provide internal training to Oyster teams on HR topics as needs arise.
  • Attend customer calls for specialized country-specific HR inquiries.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with Customer Support, Sales, Product, and Legal to solve country-specific issues.

Continuous Improvement & High Performance

  • Audit and refine workflows to reduce response times and elevate service quality.
  • Actively leverage AI tools responsibly to maximize personal output and share best practices.
  • Analyze recurring ticket trends and query patterns to identify systemic issues and build preventative resources.

Projects

  • Lead People Services and cross-functional projects supporting Oyster's mission to enable global hiring.

Key Requirements

  • Deep ER Expertise: Hands-on experience handling complex, high-risk cases (investigations, PIPs, terminations) across multiple countries.
  • Experience: 6+ years of ER & HR generalist experience supporting both internal stakeholders and external clients.
  • Languages: Fluency in English. Spanish, Italian, and/or Portuguese language skills are highly preferred.
  • Cross-Country HR: Deep global focus (EMEA, APAC, AMER, LATAM). Experience with French employment law is a major plus.
  • Tech-Forward & AI-Literate: Digitally savvy with practical experience using AI tools for drafting, research, and data analysis.
  • Communication & Engagement: Exceptional ability to translate complex legal and employment topics into accessible advice for senior leaders and clients.
  • Mindset: Solution-oriented, commercially minded, adaptable to change, and committed to high performance.
  • [BONUS]: Demonstrable experience with EORs (Employer of Record), background in fast-paced scaling startups/tech environments, or experience implementing AI/automation in HR ops.
