Impact of a Senior Analytics Engineer

As a Senior Analytics Engineer, you will join our Data Science and Engineering team at Upsun to help our company make smarter choices by better understanding our customers and internal operations. You will work with large amounts of platform and business data to create clear insights that improve our product and decisions. In this role, you will use SQL, Python, DBT, Hex, Metabase, and GCP data tools.

What to expect

• Data modeling and architecture: Design and build models that turn raw data into useful metrics and data products using DBT and medallion architecture.
• Metric design & ownership: Define success for our products, setting up and tracking key business metrics.
• Cross-functional collaboration: Work with technical and non-technical teams to collect requirements, share methods, and teach best practices.
• Technical leadership: Lead data modeling projects, choose right tools, and plan work completion.
• Scalable solutions: Work efficiently with data of all sizes, including petabyte-scale datasets.
• Strategic advisory: Guide partner teams by creating and explaining analytical metrics.
• Operational efficiency: Improve team processes and code by creating well-documented, reusable solutions.
• Evolving modern stack: Utilize modern tools including GCP BigQuery, AWS S3, Fivetran, Hightouch, and AI tools like Claude Code.
• Global remote culture: Collaborate with a worldwide, remote team valuing open source and innovation.

What you bring

• Core skills: Strong experience with SQL and DBT in real production settings, along with good habits in Python, Git, and CI/CD.
• Data architecture: Solid experience building data models for large datasets (up to petabytes) in cloud platforms like GCP or AWS.
• Curiosity and problem solving: Passion for testing new tools, learning technologies, and solving complex problems.
• Execution & tradeoffs: Ability to choose the best solution among technical options, communicate clearly, and work asynchronously.
• Clear communication: Experience creating solutions and explaining them to varied audiences.
• Remote collaboration: Comfort working in a remote team, managing time well, and coordinating across multiple teams.

Bonus

• Prior experience working with FinOps principles or FOCUS data models.
• Experience or interest in building AI data agents and modern AI-assisted data workflows.
