About the Role

At Railway, we are building the operating system for modern development. We are looking for a Growth Content Engineer to focus on AEO (Answer Engine Optimization) through a unique blend of technical engineering and high-quality writing.

As an early hire in this function, you will set the strategy and own the technical performance of our content assets to help developers become more efficient.

Responsibilities

  • Performance Analysis: Research and report on search, agent, and LLM chat performance to identify content gaps.
  • Content Engineering: Engineer content across owned assets to drive both conventional SEO and agentic search (AEO).
  • Technical Education: Build standalone app examples to demonstrate Railway’s capabilities to both users and LLMs.
  • Site Architecture: Improve documentation and blog performance, including writing guides and refining site structure.
  • Technical Ownership: Own technical site performance end-to-end to improve searchability.

About You

  • Strong, clear communication skills with a focus on technical writing.
  • Experience analyzing data in AEO tools (e.g., Gauge) to measure and iterate on content impact.
  • A product enthusiast who can translate complex technical concepts into accessible educational content.
  • Comfortable working in a startup environment with high ambiguity and a need for strong prioritization.
  • Proficient in multiple languages/stacks and capable of creating deployment guides for various cloud environments.

Culture & Benefits

  • Distributed Team: We are a global, remote-first team of 21 people serving hundreds of thousands of users.
  • Autonomy & Ownership: We value high ownership and minimal meetings. You will have the agency to make decisions and own the outcomes.
  • Benefits: Competitive salary, full health benefits (including dependents), strong equity grants, and an equipment stipend.
  • Growth: We support your professional development, whether that growth happens at Railway or beyond.
