About the Role

As an Engineering Manager for Postgres, you will lead a group of talented engineers building and maintaining the Render Postgres product. This role blends strong technical leadership with product thinking: you’ll partner closely with product managers and designers to translate user needs into a high-quality, scalable system that hundreds of thousands of developers rely on every day.

What You'll Do

• Lead and Grow: Manage a team of Postgres engineers, supporting their development through mentorship, feedback, and clear technical guidance.
• Drive Execution: Lead product initiatives from ideation through launch, balancing speed with high standards of reliability.
• Collaborate: Partner with Product, Design, and Infra teams to translate customer needs into technical roadmaps.
• Technical Leadership: Engage in system design, architectural tradeoffs, and engineering best practices.
• Foster Culture: Promote ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.

What We're Looking For

• 8+ years of engineering experience, ideally with stateful services.
• 2+ years of people management experience, including hiring and performance management.
• Strong technical background in system design and architecture.
• Product-oriented mindset with the ability to translate business goals into engineering roadmaps.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills.

Nice-to-haves

• Experience building developer platforms, cloud infrastructure, or DevTools.
• Background in highly scalable distributed systems.
• Experience improving engineering velocity through tooling and process.
