About Render
At Render, we’re building the modern cloud platform for developers creating AI-native, full-stack, multi-service applications. Our mission is to eliminate the tradeoff between the power of hyperscalers and the simplicity of developer-friendly platforms.
About the Role
We are looking for engineers with deep specialization in cloud and compute infrastructure to help us scale our platform. You will design and build the cloud platform you've always wanted, directly impacting millions of developers. You will work on Kubernetes clusters, micro VMs, and custom orchestration components to ensure reliability, performance, and scale.
What You'll Do
- Own Render's core compute infrastructure across multiple cloud providers, regions, and data centers.
- Design and build capabilities for better service performance, deployment flexibility, and availability.
- Investigate complex issues across the stack, from the kernel and data plane to our control plane.
- Improve infrastructure performance through systematic profiling, experimentation, and tuning.
- Partner with cross-functional teams to build a stable, predictable, and secure platform.
- Participate in on-call rotations to detect, respond to, and learn from incidents.
What We're Looking For
- 7+ years of experience building and operating large-scale platform or compute infrastructure.
- Deep expertise in operating, scaling, and enhancing Kubernetes or similar orchestration systems.
- Proficiency in Go, Rust, or similar languages for developing custom infrastructure components.
- Strong experience designing, debugging, and operating distributed systems.
- Ability to make tradeoffs to improve performance and efficiency without sacrificing reliability.
- Experience planning and executing high-risk upgrades with minimal downtime.
Nice-to-Haves
- Background in virtualization (Firecracker, gVisor, Kata).
- Experience optimizing node, pod, and container spin-up times.
- Familiarity with eBPF, Linux kernel internals, and resource management.
- Experience securing multi-tenant execution environments.
Benefits
- 4 weeks of paid vacation.
- 14 weeks of fully paid parental leave.
- 100% employer-paid medical; 99% dental and vision coverage.
- 401K, long-term disability, and life insurance.
- Monthly lifestyle, wellness, and internet/cell phone stipends.
- Home office stipends for remote employees.
- Continuous learning benefits.
