About Spotted Zebra

At Spotted Zebra, we're building an AI-native end-to-end hiring platform that helps the world's leading organisations find the right people, faster and fairer than ever before. We are a multi-award-winning Series A company giving talent leaders the solution they've always needed—skills science native, AI-amplified, and built by people who have lived and breathed talent acquisition.

What We Do

Spotted Zebra brings Interview Intelligence, Skills Assessments, and our AI Interview Agent (Spot) together in one powerful platform. Talent teams gain the insight to predict candidate success, the speed to move before competitors, and the governance to defend every hiring decision, while freeing up capacity to focus on human moments.

We are trusted by FTSE100 and Fortune500 companies including British Airways, NIQ, Domino's, Lidl, Merlin Entertainments, AWE, United Utilities, and Paramount. We were named Personnel Today's Talent Acquisition Supplier of the Year 2025 and featured on the UK Top 100 Startups List.

What You'll Be Doing

You’ll turn complex hiring problems into simple, thoughtful experiences for talent teams and candidates, collaborating with PMs, Engineers, and fellow Designers from early exploration through delivery.

As our design expert, you will own our most complex challenges and enable PMs and engineers to move quickly on simpler work through coaching, AI tools, and our SZ Design System.

Key Responsibilities

  • Own design where it matters most: Lead complex, high-impact problems from exploration to shipped experiences, focusing on strong interaction design, visual craft, and accessibility.
  • Enable others to deliver good design: Equip PMs and Engineers to own simpler workflows using the SZ Design System, clear principles, AI tooling, and coaching.
  • Stay close to users: Gather insight through conversations, product analytics, and lightweight testing, adapting research depth to the decision at hand.
  • Make pragmatic decisions: Balance user value, business priorities, and technical feasibility, identifying what needs polish now versus what can iterate after launch.
  • Use AI to accelerate delivery: Enhance research, prototyping, and implementation workflows, evaluating outputs critically and embedding useful approaches across the team.
  • Keep the product coherent: Connect end-to-end user journeys across crews, surface inconsistencies early, and evolve patterns within the SZ Design System.
  • Champion the user: Challenge assumptions alongside Product, Engineering, Data Science, and Occupational Psychology to balance usability, trust, and governance.
  • Design understandable AI experiences: Clarify capabilities, limitations, and next steps, keeping users in control when AI is uncertain or makes mistakes.
  • Follow through on outcomes: Partner with Engineers during implementation, review shipped work, and leverage feedback and metrics to iterate.

Requirements

Must-Haves

  • Proven track record of shipping complex, web-based SaaS experiences at pace, with examples of navigating uncertainty and driving post-launch improvements.
  • Exceptional UX and visual craft: intuitive, accessible interfaces that simplify complex workflows while balancing craft with shipping velocity.
  • Strong product judgement in startup or scale-up teams, utilizing qualitative research and data to take informed bets.
  • Close collaboration history with PMs and Engineers, integrating product strategy and technical understanding.
  • Experience leveraging AI coding or prototyping tools (e.g., Claude Code, Claude Design, Lovable) and integrating design-system guidance into workflows.
  • Practical experience using AI to accelerate design or delivery workflows while applying critical judgement.
