About the Role

You will lead the team responsible for Vercel’s CDN, proxy, and edge caching systems—the core infrastructure powering performance, reliability, and cost efficiency for every customer request. Your mandate is to operate critical systems exceptionally while aligning the team to product and business goals.

This is a management-focused role. You will set direction, grow people, and create conditions for high trust and autonomy. While you may code for prototypes or unblocking, your primary focus is delegation, coaching, and strategic alignment.

About You

• 8+ years building and operating large-scale distributed systems.
• 3+ years managing engineers (managing managers is a plus).
• Demonstrated success leading CDN, proxy, caching, edge, or similar high-throughput infrastructure.
• Proven ability to translate business goals into technical strategy and drive cross-org alignment.
• Track record of establishing psychological safety and providing candid feedback.
• Strong facilitator in technical conflict; able to synthesize, decide, and lead the team.
• Competence across HTTP, TLS, caching strategies, load shedding, capacity planning, observability, and cost optimization.

Bonus Points

• Experience with Go, Lua, or Node at the edge.
• Experience running high-signal hiring pipelines.
• Experience collaborating with product/PMM on customer-facing narratives.
