About the Role

We are looking for an Engineer to lead the design and development of Vercel's Finance Data Platform. This foundational system powers revenue reporting, consumption-based billing, financial forecasting, and compliance. You will define the technical vision, partner with Finance and Revenue leadership, and build reliable, auditable pipelines using modern technologies like Kafka, ClickHouse, Tinybird, and Snowflake.

What You Will Do

• Architect Data Systems: Design and implement a platform supporting revenue recognition and consumption-based billing across batch and real-time workloads.
• Cross-Functional Partnership: Collaborate with FP&A, Accounting, and RevOps to translate business requirements into scalable technical architecture.
• Data Governance: Define guidelines for ingestion, transformation, and storage with a focus on auditability, lineage, and data integrity.
• Engineering Excellence: Write production-grade code, set the bar for data accuracy, and mentor engineers in a high-accountability domain.
• Compliance & Security: Partner with Security, Legal, and Internal Audit to ensure pipelines meet SOX and SOC 2 requirements.
• Strategic Planning: Drive architectural decisions, evaluate build-vs-buy tradeoffs, and establish a roadmap for platform maturity.

About You

• 4+ years of experience in data engineering or analytics engineering with a track record of owning end-to-end production pipelines.
• Deep expertise in Kafka, ClickHouse, Tinybird, and Snowflake.
• Experience building pipelines for financial reporting, revenue recognition, or consumption-based pricing models.
• Proficiency in cloud platforms (AWS, GCP, or Azure).
• Strong background in data governance, security, and compliance (SOX/SOC 2).
• Excellent communication skills with the ability to influence both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
• A leadership mindset with a passion for mentoring teams and driving best practices.
