About the Role

We are looking for an experienced, technical, and business-minded Senior Counsel to enable Vercel’s product innovation and shipping velocity. You will partner closely with Engineering, Product, Design (EPD), and Security teams to provide legal support throughout the product development lifecycle. This is a senior individual contributor role reporting to the VP of Legal.

Note: This role is based in San Francisco with a 3-day/week in-office requirement.

What You Will Do

• Partner with EPD teams to enable cutting-edge product initiatives while balancing innovation with risk management.
• Resolve issues related to privacy, data security, AI, platform safety, marketing, and intellectual property.
• Translate evolving laws into practical, actionable guidance.
• Build scalable processes and draft templates to help Vercel ship faster.
• Provide legal support for sales, partnerships, procurement, and M&A as needed.

About You

• Admitted to the California Bar (or eligible for Registered In-House Counsel exception).
• 8+ years of legal experience, including 4+ years of product legal experience at a software company.
• Strong understanding of cloud services (SaaS, PaaS, IaaS) and global regulatory requirements.
• Ability to communicate a clear point of view under time pressure.
• Proven track record of building processes in hyper-growth environments.
• Experience independently managing and negotiating technology agreements.

Bonus Points

• Computer science degree or technical background in software engineering.
• Experience with open source, platform safety, or commercial transactions.
• Prior experience using Vercel’s products and services.
