Staff Developer Experience Engineer - Vetcove

About the Role

Vetcove is seeking a Staff Engineer to help us build 10x faster. As we modernize the $50B+ animal health industry, we are looking for someone to own the tools, infrastructure, and workflows that empower our engineering teams. You will be at the forefront of integrating AI into our development lifecycle to eliminate manual bottlenecks and accelerate shipping.

What You'll Do

• Workflow Innovation: Rethink the path from idea to production, integrating AI at every step.
• AI Integration: Deploy and manage coding agents, providing them with the context, tools, and feedback loops needed for complex tasks.
• CI/CD Optimization: Relentlessly improve build times, eliminate flaky tests, and automate manual deployment steps.
• Automation: Build agents for triage, code review, testing, documentation, and releases.
• Internal Tooling: Create infrastructure that allows non-engineering teams to build and maintain their own apps and automations.
• Tooling Strategy: Experiment with new models and developer infrastructure, owning the rollout and adoption across the company.
• Reliability: Build testing, permissions, sandboxing, and observability into workflows to ensure rapid, confident development.

What You Should Have

• Deep conviction in the role of AI in software engineering, with hands-on experience using coding agents.
• Strong software engineering fundamentals and experience operating production systems.
• A track record of improving CI/CD, testing infrastructure, or internal tooling to boost developer productivity.
• Familiarity with agent SDKs, harnesses, and tool integrations.
• Technical judgment to balance building vs. buying and choosing the right complexity for the problem.
• Ability to drive ambiguous projects from technical direction to implementation.
• Proficiency with our stack: Python/Django and React/TypeScript.
• A collaborative, hands-on approach to pairing and problem-solving.
