Staff Data Engineer - Webflow

About the Role

Webflow is looking for a Staff Data Engineer to drive key initiatives across our Data Platform, including the data lake, event instrumentation, data quality, and governance. You will design and scale cloud data infrastructure while building AI-assisted development workflows to encode engineering standards.

Key Responsibilities

• Platform Engineering: Design and build reliable data pipelines using Spark, Kafka, Iceberg, and Airflow/MWAA.
• Infrastructure: Scale cloud data infrastructure (Kafka, Druid, EMR on EKS) with a focus on observability and reliability.
• Data Governance: Implement centralized PII handling, data retention, and residency solutions to support GDPR and CCPA.
• AI Integration: Build agent harnesses that embed data engineering standards and quality gates into AI-assisted development workflows.
• Leadership: Mentor engineers, troubleshoot production issues, and collaborate across teams to define data standards and event schemas.

Requirements

• 5+ years of experience in data engineering, building and operating production-scale data platforms.
• Strong proficiency in Spark, distributed data processing, and SQL.
• Experience designing batch, real-time, and streaming data solutions (Kafka, Spark Structured Streaming, CDC).
• Proven track record of leading complex data engineering initiatives from design to production.
• Experience with cloud data infrastructure, CI/CD, and infrastructure-as-code.
• Familiarity with data governance, privacy, and event instrumentation best practices.
