About the Role

The Wikimedia Foundation (WMF) is seeking an experienced Lead Product Partnerships Manager to expand the global reach of Wikipedia's products and knowledge. This role is crucial for fostering product integrations and new distribution opportunities within the Product and Technology (P&T) department.

You will cultivate relationships with key audiences including AI providers, social/EdTech platforms, and other companies to grow the reuse of Wikimedia content in new products and spaces. This is a highly independent, self-directed lead position requiring strong existing connections in the tech space.

Scope of Work

New Product & Technology Partnerships: Identify and secure new partnerships with technology platforms. Collaborate with Product and Design teams to define and execute non-commercial value exchange partnerships that align with P&T's strategic goals, focusing on new product development, integrations, data/lead sharing, and in-kind technical donations.
Attribution and Content Reuse: Design and secure pilots with high-priority content reusers to enhance attribution visibility through the Wikimedia Attribution Framework and API.
Cross-organizational Collaboration: Coordinate with various departments (WME, Legal, Communications, Fundraising, Content Enablement, Community Resources & Partnerships) to maintain a partner and opportunity pipeline. Represent P&T in cross-departmental discussions.
Execution and Coordination: Manage partnership processes, including drafting LOI/MOUs, CRM management, creating pitch decks, and coordinating with other Partnerships staff.
Industry Engagement: Represent the WMF at relevant conferences and events, gathering industry intelligence on product and technology trends. Monitor technology news for new launches that could impact goals or create partnership opportunities.

Deliverables/Responsibilities

Create LOI/MOUs (zero-dollar contracts).
Manage CRM in collaboration with the Partnerships cohort.
Develop and refine pitch decks and pitch strategies.
Develop lists of potential partners, manage communications, and schedule meetings.
Demonstrate strong product and technical fluency to align the P&T product roadmap with high-scale reusers, ensuring alignment on data formats, reliability SLAs, and repeatable "Partner Kits".
Coordinate with other Partnerships staff across departments and teams.
Attend partner conferences and events.
Monitor for new partnership opportunities arising from new product releases.

Skills and Qualifications

Proven experience forming and managing high-level, multi-stakeholder partnerships, particularly in the technology and/or media industry.
Demonstrated independence and self-direction in a lead role.
Existing network of strong connections across the media and technology ecosystem, especially within AI, social, media, and EdTech platforms.
Excellent communication and negotiation skills, with the ability to influence internal and external stakeholders in a complex, consensus-driven, cross-cultural environment.
Analytical mindset to uncover and independently analyze insights from partners and market conditions.
Experience in program/project management, including workflow management, communication, scheduling, and follow-up on action items.
A passion for the mission and values of the Wikimedia movement.

Salaries at the Wikimedia Foundation are set in a way that is competitive, equitable, and consistent with our values and culture. The anticipated annual pay range of this position for applicants based within the United States is US$133,121 to US$207,388. For applicants located outside of the US, the pay range will be adjusted to the country of hire. We neither ask for nor take into consideration the salary history of applicants. The compensation for a successful applicant will be based on their skills, experience and location.
