About 1Password

At 1Password, we’re building the foundation for a safe, productive digital future. Our mission is to unleash employee productivity without compromising security by ensuring every identity is authentic, every application sign-in is secure, and every device is trusted. We innovated the market-leading enterprise password manager and pioneered Unified Access Management, a new cybersecurity category built for the way people and AI agents work today. Over 180,000 businesses, from Fortune 100 leaders to the world’s most innovative AI companies, trust 1Password to help their teams securely adopt the SaaS and AI tools they need to do their best work.

The Role

We're hiring a Director of Product Marketing to own the go-to-market strategy for 1Password's core product portfolio: Enterprise Password Manager, SaaS Manager, and Device Trust. This role reports to the VP of Solutions Marketing.

This is a senior leadership role with two responsibilities that carry equal weight: running a strong PMM team, and owning the positioning, narrative, and GTM execution for 1Password's core products. You'll work closely with Product, Sales, Customer Success, and Brand Marketing.

This is a remote opportunity within Canada and the US.

What We're Looking For

Experience and Domain Expertise

  • 10+ years of B2B SaaS product marketing experience, with strong depth in identity security, credentials management, or access governance.
  • Hands-on experience positioning AI-adjacent or AI-native security solutions.
  • A working understanding of how identity security needs to evolve to support developers and AI builders.
  • Able to market technically complex products to different audiences (IT leaders, security engineers, CISOs) without losing coherence across them.
  • A track record in competitive markets where winning required unseating incumbents or reframing a category, not just occupying one.

Technical Depth

  • Understanding of how AI agents are reshaping identity and access security requirements.
  • Working knowledge of developer toolchains (IDEs, GitHub Actions, CI/CD platforms) and the secrets management patterns that surround them.

AI-Forward, Not AI-Dependent

  • You use AI to move faster and free up time for core product marketing competencies: strategy, judgment, and narrative.
  • You can defend and articulate the thinking behind every recommendation you bring to the table.

Strategic Storytelling and Senior-Level Communication

  • Ability to write for multiple audiences without diluting the message across technical and executive stakeholders.
  • Strong narrative instincts: opening with the problem, building to the solution, and demonstrating product relevance.
  • Proven track record of shaping category narratives, not just contributing to them.

People Leadership

  • 3+ years managing PMMs directly, with clear examples of developing and growing team members.
  • Experience hiring, setting clear priorities, and elevating team execution.

Bonus Points

  • Security certifications (CISSP, Security+, or similar).
  • Experience driving thought leadership and unique perspectives in a fast-moving technology category.

What You Can Expect

  • Lead and Develop the Team: Directly manage a team of product marketers covering core products, setting clear expectations and coaching high performance.
  • Own Full-Stack Product Marketing: Own messaging, positioning, and launch strategy for EPM, SaaS Manager, and Device Trust, defining the market narrative in the age of AI.
  • Build Competitive Intelligence: Drive positioning, market leadership claims, and competitive differentiation to equip sales teams with winning narratives.
  • Enable the Field: Produce discovery decks, battlecards, objection-handling guides, and technical briefs that sellers and SEs actively rely on.
  • Influence Product Strategy: Serve as the voice of the market to product leadership with customer evidence, analyst intelligence, and field feedback.
  • Be a Credible External Voice: Participate in analyst briefings, customer advisory calls, thought leadership bylines, and keynotes.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base Salary Range (USD): $203,000 – $305,000 USD
  • Base Salary Range (CAD): $185,000 – $278,000 CAD
  • Equity grant (RSU program)
  • Comprehensive health and dental coverage
  • Retirement plan matching (401k / RRSP)
  • Generous paid time off (PTO)
  • Maternity and parental leave top-up programs
