About the Senior Accountant Role

We are looking for a senior accountant to join our technology-first finance organization. This role is 70-80% core accounting (month-end close, reconciliations, investment accounting, compliance) and 20-30% AI-driven process automation. You will identify manual workflows, rebuild them using AI, and train the team to own these new processes.

Key Responsibilities

Core Accounting

• Own month-end close, reconciliations, and recurring reporting.
• Manage investment accounting, including journal entries and schedules.
• Prepare and support state compliance filings and forecasts.
• Standardize accounting for new insurance programs.
• Maintain compliance with GAAP, statutory, and regulatory requirements.

AI and Automation

• Identify and rebuild manual accounting workflows using AI tools.
• Map current-state processes and lead the implementation of AI alternatives.
• Document and train team members on new automated processes.
• Evaluate and pilot new AI tools for the finance team.
• Ensure all AI-enabled processes maintain strict internal controls and regulatory compliance.

Skills, Knowledge, and Expertise

• 5+ years of corporate accounting experience.
• Investment accounting experience.
• Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field.
• Hands-on experience applying AI to real-world tasks.
• Proven track record of automating repetitive work.
• Ability to document and teach technical processes to others.
• Strong analytical skills and ability to work with ambiguity.
• Insurance or statutory accounting experience is a plus.
