
About the Role
Our Talent Science team ensures that we follow an objective, scientifically rigorous, and efficient process to select the very best new colleagues regardless of location, culture, or background. We leverage data to enable evidence-based decisions, weaving behavioural science throughout our selection process.
As a Director, Talent Analytics, you will report directly to the Global Head of Talent Science and work closely with our Hiring Leadership team to ensure our hiring model supports the selection of world-class talent.
Key Responsibilities
- Strategic Leadership: Lead a team to deliver against strategic objectives, focusing on product design and roadmap implementation.
- Data-Driven Hiring: Connect performance outcomes back to selection methods to identify and progress exceptional talent.
- Process Design: Design professional processes and frameworks to allow for efficient delivery of our agenda.
- Coaching & Mentoring: Develop team members' analytical capabilities and thought leadership; create training materials and documentation.
- Stakeholder Management: Act as a credible, trusted adviser and inspiring leader; represent the team in the absence of the Head of Talent Science.
- Vision Communication: Work with company leaders to communicate our vision for talent at Canonical.
What We Are Looking For
- Academic Background: Exceptional academic track record with an undergraduate degree in a people-based subject.
- Experience: 7+ years in a Talent function with a deep appreciation for recruitment, selection, and analytics.
- Analytical Skills: Proven ability to dissect and analyze data using SQL. Alternatively, proficiency in Python, R, or SPSS, with an appetite to learn SQL.
- BI Tools: Exposure to BI tools (Superset is our platform).
- Leadership: Exemplary ability to lead and drive others, including exceptional project management and coaching skills.
- Communication: Exceptional written and spoken English with strong presentation skills for a senior audience.
- Travel: Ability to travel internationally 2-4 times a year for company events (up to two weeks long).

- Advanced psychometric skills.
- Deep understanding of human behaviour and intrinsic motivation.
- Experience with Superset and/or Greenhouse.
