HR Generalist - Canonical

About the Role

Canonical is seeking an HR Generalist to support our global team of 1,200+ colleagues across 75 countries. Reporting to the Regional HR Manager, you will help shape our HR function during a period of significant growth. This role requires a hands-on, proactive approach to managing HR operations, employee relations, and global policy implementation.

Key Responsibilities

  • HR Guidance: Provide expert advice to team members and managers, setting high standards for performance and behavior.
  • Employee Relations: Partner with line managers to provide guidance on global policies and procedures.
  • Operations: Manage the full employee life-cycle, including onboarding, benefit administration, and departures.
  • Systems & Data: Act as a system expert for our HR platform, automate administrative tasks, and produce data-driven reports to influence HR initiatives.
  • Payroll & Benefits: Liaise with finance on monthly payroll and manage benefit programs for either EMEA or AMER regions.
  • Compliance: Create and maintain global policies with local application, ensuring consistent enforcement.
  • Projects: Lead and participate in global HR projects and support internal resource groups for diversity and inclusion.

What We Are Looking For

  • Exceptional academic track record (high school and university).
  • Relevant professional HR qualifications and certifications.
  • Strong practical knowledge of either EMEA or AMER employment laws and HR practices.
  • Self-directed, organized problem-solver with the ability to prioritize effectively.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to exercise discretion, sound judgment, and diplomacy.
  • A fearless, principled approach to professional interactions at all levels.
  • Ability to travel up to 4 times a year for internal events (including at least one two-week trip).
