Public Cloud Solution Architect - Canonical

About the Role

Canonical is seeking a Public Cloud Solution Architect to drive joint initiatives and technical engagements with major public cloud providers. Acting as the technical counterpart to the Cloud Alliance GTM Lead, you will bridge the gap between engineering, sales, and product management to ensure Ubuntu remains the platform of choice for cloud innovation.

Key Responsibilities

• Strategic Alignment: Collaborate with product, engineering, and alliance teams at public cloud partners to align on open-source strategies.
• Product Advocacy: Act as a product champion and primary point of contact for named cloud partners.
• Technical Execution: Ensure Canonical’s product requirements are clear and delivery is executed as planned; maintain relationships with engineering teams to optimize Ubuntu on public clouds.
• Content Creation: Coordinate with marketing and product teams to create webinars, presentations, videos, and white papers.
• Growth: Drive Ubuntu adoption across cloud products and deliver first-party offerings with subscription components.

• Strong understanding of and interest in public cloud technologies.
• Exceptional academic track record (undergraduate degree in a technical subject or compelling alternative narrative).
• Confidence to exchange ideas and speak up in a collaborative environment.
• Proven track record of delivering beyond expectations and meeting commitments.
• Excellent interpersonal skills, curiosity, and accountability.
• Outstanding business English writing and presentation skills.
• Ability to travel internationally twice a year for company events (up to two weeks long).

Nice-to-Have Skills

• Experience with Linux (Debian/Ubuntu), Azure, AWS, GCP, DevOps, or containers.
• Background in product management or strategic partner management.
• Understanding of marketing and go-to-market strategy.
